Why can’t subscriptions be delivered rurally?
Because rural delivery costs are higher and the subscription discount makes it tough to keep quality and value consistent. Regular rural orders are still very much welcome, though.
How often are deliveries made?
We dispatch orders daily for delivery Monday to Friday, using our trusted courier network to get your box there as quickly as possible.
When’s the best time to order for fastest delivery?
Any time works. Our cut-off for next-day dispatch is 11.30am, and we send orders out as soon as possible after they come in. Delivery times then depend on the courier runs in your area.
What time will my order arrive?
Deliveries happen throughout the working day, even as late as 6 pm, depending on courier routes and workload.
What happens if I'm not at home during delivery?
The courier will leave your box in a safe place (just let us know in the checkout notes, e.g. 'behind gate' or 'on back deck'). In summer, pick a shady spot for freshness.
Do you deliver to the North Island?
At the current time, we deliver to the South Island only.
Can I schedule a delivery for a specific date?
Yes - just add your preferred date in the “add a note for us” box at checkout, and we’ll do our best to work around it.
What about public holidays?
Delivery schedules change around public holidays. We’ll share updates via email, socials, and on the website in advance.
Do you deliver to workplaces?
Yes - as long as someone is available to receive the delivery during business hours, we’ll deliver to any business type.
What if there’s an issue with my delivery?
Your satisfaction is our success story! We stand firmly behind the quality of our products, so if you're not happy, let us know right away. We can either issue a refund, or a replacement if the order was placed via Afterpay. See our Guarantee.
Can I add notes or special instructions?
Yes - use the “add a note for us” section at checkout for any delivery instructions or special requests.
Can I change my order once I've placed it?
Yes - just email joanne@eatlocal.nz with what you'd like to add or remove, and we'll take care of it. If the value of your order changes, we’ll send you either an updated invoice or a credit note.
Can I customise my order?
Yes - that’s what we do best. With Custom Content you choose the fruit, veges, and artisan extras you want. You can also add extras to our Good-to-Go boxes so they suit you perfectly.
Can I return my order?
Because our products are perishable, we don’t accept returns. If there’s an issue with your order, let us know within 24 hours and we’ll either refund or replace the item. Please note we can’t offer refunds for change of mind or Afterpay orders.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, our minimum order for home deliveries is $30.
For Fruit At Work deliveries, our minimum order is $50 + GST.
How can I check my order history?
Create an Eatlocal account to view past orders, access your Wishlist, and manage your details easily.
What does Tag 1 mean?
Tag 1 is the best of the best. It signifies produce with top freshness, appearance, and quality - no defects, prime size, vibrant colour, and great texture.
Where do you source your products?
We proudly source fresh, seasonal produce from trusted local growers and artisan food producers across New Zealand.
Do you stock only New Zealand–grown produce?
We prioritise local wherever possible, and may bring in imported items only when NZ versions aren’t in season. The exception is bananas, which are currently imported - though it’s our dream to one day stock NZ-grown bananas.
How do seasonal changes affect your boxes?
Our boxes reflect the seasons. Stock changes with availability - you’ll always get what’s freshest. We update the site regularly.
When does stone fruit and other seasonal favourites arrive?
Stone fruit and other seasonal favourites land as soon as the first pick hits the market. We keep in close contact with our growers, so the moment peaches, nectarines, cherries or plums are ready, they’re added to the website. Seasonal lines can move fast, so it’s worth checking in regularly during peak season.
Why do some items suddenly become more expensive?
Weather, crop availability, and demand can affect supply, and prices reflect that. We stay transparent and update prices to stay fair to both producers and customers.
Why are your prices sometimes higher than supermarkets?
Because you’re getting Tag 1, premium-quality produce, fresh and local - and our growers are compensated fairly. It’s about quality, not just price.
How is Eatlocal different from other vege box providers?
We only send produce we’d choose ourselves. No offloading surplus or inferior stock - just consistently excellent, locally grown produce delivered fast.
Do you offer organic produce?
We have a small but mighty range of organic products. Check back soon as we add more in the future.
Are there options for people with dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. Use the site filters to find vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and other options easily.
Can I request products that are not listed on your website?
Yes! We love customer requests. Let us know what you’re after, and we’ll try to source it for you.
Because we’re seasonal! Items end when the growers run out, the season ends, or we swap in fresh new stock. We also retire low-demand items to keep our range exciting.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Afterpay, and ANZ bank transfer. Card payments are processed securely via Stripe.
Do you offer a 'buy now pay later' option?
Yes - Afterpay lets you pay in four interest-free instalments. If there’s an issue with your order, we’ll replace the item instead of refunding due to merchant processing limitations.
Can I gift a box to someone?
Yes! Just enter the recipient’s details and a personal message at checkout. We’ll hide the price for a special surprise delivery.
Do you offer Gift Cards?
Yes! We offer e-Gift Cards starting from $10. We’ll email them to your recipient with your personal message included.
