A true kitchen staple and arguably the most widely used vegetable in the world. Whether you're caramelising, sautéing, roasting, or starting off a soup or stew - everything good begins with an onion.

  • Store
    Store whole onions in a cool, dry place with good airflow, and away from potatoes. Once cut, wrap and refrigerate, and use within a few days.

    Prep
    Trim the ends, remove the skin, and slice or dice as needed. If onions make you tear up, chilling them briefly can help.

    Eat raw or cook 

    Onions can be eaten raw in salads and salsas. They’re also the base of many cooked dishes and work well sautéed, roasted, caramelised, or added to soups and sauces. If they’re a bit too pungent, soaking sliced onion in cold water for a few minutes can help soften the bite.
