Creamy and nutritious and sourced from the Bay of Plenty, avocados are ideal for adding to salads, sandwiches and wraps, or, of course, guacamole.

Store unripe avocados at room temperature until they soften. Once ripe, keep them in the fridge to slow things down. If cut, leave the stone in, wrap tightly, and refrigerate.Prep
Cut lengthways around the stone and twist to separate. Remove the stone, scoop out the flesh, then slice, dice, or mash as needed.Eat raw or cook
Avocado is best eaten raw in salads, sandwiches, and spreads. It can also be lightly grilled or baked, though heat softens it quickly. A squeeze of lemon or lime helps prevent browning once cut.
